Hey Hey Hey! I came across this Vintage inspired gift bag at Dollar Tree the other day and knew it would make a cute craft so I snatched it and a few others up before they sold out. Once I got home and looked through my craft stash it hit me…Christmas Sign!! The bag would make the cutest Farmhouse Wall Hanging and I had enough scrap wood to make enough to hand out a few as gifts! They were super easy to make so I couldn’t wait to share them with you.
Materials:
- Christmas Gift Bag
- Scrap wood I used a 15″ x 1″ piece
- Stain or paint for wood
- Hot glue gun with glue sticks
- Staple gun with staples (optional)
- Scissors
- Twine
First, I had handsome hubby cut some scrap wood down to size, my bag was 13 inches long so hubby cut me a 15″ x 1″ piece of wood. I then grabbed my Dixie Belle Gel Stain along with a napkin and stained my two pieces of wood, and set them aside to completely dry.
While my wood was drying I cut the gift bag along the seams so that I would have just the picture I plan on using. The one gift bag will make two signs so save the back picture and make another one for a friend.
Next, I grabbed my stained wood pieces added some hot glue to the backs then attached them to the top and bottom of my bag picture leaving about an inch overhang on both sides.
Now that I have my wood pieces applied I needed to add a little twine for hanging so I stapled (you can use hot glue as an alternative) some twine to the back of the sign at the top and added a few more staples along the top and bottom just for extra insurances. LOL
Now it’s ready for hanging! I am so happy with how it turned out and it will look super cute among vintage Christmas decor! This may very well be my favorite Dollar Tree Christmas Craft to date!
