I have recently found myself stopping by my local Dollar Tree a little more than normal thanks to their new craft section. One of my last visits I bought these two Halloween Banners that I just loved but in all honesty, they were just a little cheesy like they were so I got my creative juices flowing, looked through my craft stash, and immediately knew what to do with them…..shelf sitters!!
This was super easy to do and the end result is totally cute!!
Here is what you will need:
- Dollar Tree Halloween Banner
- Scrap Wood (my scrap wood is 10 x 9 inches)
- Paint (your choice of color)
- Four (4) Thumbtacks
- Ribbon and Raffia for a messy bow
I painted my scrap wood first using Apple Barrel Black, which can be found at Wal-Mart or local craft store.
It doesn’t take long to dry maybe 10 minutes.
While my paint was drying I removed the hanger and cut my banner down to size. I removed a little from the top and bottom cutting it into square using fabric scissors for a clean cut.
Once my banner was cut down to the right size I used four (4) thumbtacks to attached it to my wood, putting one thumbtack in each corner.
**You can use hot glue if you don’t have any thumbtacks. I just really like the look of the thumbtacks
Next I painted my thumbtacks using the same Apple Barrel black paint and applying it with a Q-tip.
***This step is not necessary but hey “When in Rome” right? lol
To finish it off I made a cute little messy bow and attached it to the top right corner with hot glue!!
Now how cute did that turn out?? Too cute right!
It turned out so good I had to make another one! So one for my Hocus Pocus themed Décor and one for my Nightmare Before Christmas Décor (I can never decide which theme is my favorite so I will use them both).
Let me know what you think of this craft and if you try it we would love to see how yours turned out!!
